Collecting Work and Feedback Posted by: Mark Povell
All feedback sheets are in the main office … they may or may not have been photocopied … I have been out of college at the show and will be back in on Tuesday 15th .. I and the feedback sheets (probably) will be available sometime that day… all your work is in Room 210 on tables…. have a good summer and don’t do anything I wouldn’t … which gives you a whole lotta room for maneuvering and having fun ….. finally, as one of my oldest friends always says; “It is never too late to have a happy childhood”…. I , as I think you would agree, am living testimony to that …. over and out

WORK IN PROGRESS SHOW Posted by: ally
The ‘work-in-progress show’ is open to year 0, 1st & 2nd year students from GD and GDNM.
Third floor of the Barge House, Oxo Tower, London.
The opportunity for students from these years to show work is a new and exciting addition to the degree show.
We have never done this before, it is experimental and new and we ask you to work with us.
The nature of this show has changed from the initial idea of proposals and display of work into a live work in progress show.
We have had to think quickly and adapt our ideas in response to an exciting proposal from Vaughan Oliver. We appreciate your commitment so far and we have confidence that you will understand this adaptation from the original call for work to this more exciting and dynamic event which sets out to engage/involve the audience of the show in a new and exciting way.
Following Tuesday’s meeting, we have considered some of your concerns and thanks to Tony Meyer you can now submit films to be considered for the showreel. If you are interested in doing this you need to get your work to Tony in GDNM by 4.00pm on Thursday 3rd June.
This show is an optional extra curricular activity and we invite you to seize this opportunity and engage.
We would like you to know that tutors are also committed to helping you to make this show a success and like real industry experiences, we have had to think on our feet and adapt to changing circumstances such as space allocation, health and safety requirements, resources restrictions, budget and timetable changes and personal commitments.
THE SHOW:
What you need to think about: Think about which processes you wish to use. We have been working today to supply you with an A3 printer and paper, external hard drive, scanner and two digital projectors and A1 cartridge paper. We suggest you bring your own USB stick, laptop, camera, drawing equipment and any other materials you may need.
Day 1, Tuesday 8th June
We will begin by meeting on the third floor of the Barge House at 11.00am. We will need to set up and establish a creative laboratory in which to create and show work. How we work within this space is really important and requires your commitment to make the show a success. Please arrive by 11am prompt.
Day 2, Wednesday 9th June
Vaughan Oliver arrives hot off the plane from New York to brief you. Be punctual and get to the venue by 11am. Expect a long but exciting day.
Day 3, Thursday 10th June
More working on projects right ready for your audience and through to the end of the private view at 9.30pm. (Industry private view only).
Day 4, Friday 11th June
Vaughan works with you to conclude project. Rota of invidulation of show by participants.
Day 5&6, Sat 12th/Sun 13th June

Pick up your prints (VERY LAST CHANCE!) Posted by: Rose
There are prints from all workshops since September, if you have attended any print workshop in the print area then this week is the very last chance to pick them up before they get thrown out.
Find them in the STUDENT PRINTS DRAW, which is in the plans chest in the print area.
There are a number of screens in the rack too, come and pick them up if you want it over the summer, especially third years.
If you need to remove a stencil from your screen come along at 4 on Thursday 27th May.
The Print Area will be closing at 5.30pm on Thursday.
Have a brilliant summer!

GDNM.org v4.0 – Coming to a browser near you… Posted by: Tom
Over the summer we are going to be doing some work on GDNM.org and we would like to invite you to give your input on what you love or hate about the site, and what you would like to see improved.
We will be asking people to meet with us in couple of lunch time focus groups, where there will be biscuits for all.
However it would be great to get this started with some feedback in the comments.
Thanks

Screen printing for the SHOW Posted by: Rose
Anyone thinking of screen printing something to put in the show…
All ideas need to be checked by both Rose and Luke. There is very little time left to print and I’m sure third years want a bit of a break after FMP hand in, so in order to avoid problems coming up with printing just before the show you need to check your artwork with us so we can advise you on the printing. We also need to know how many people are going to be using it, this is to prevent everyone printing on the same day.
The Print Area is back open, but on a limited timetable, this to ensure it is supervised when being used by students. Please do not use (print, pop in to wash your hands, borrow some tape, or paper, or take a different route into 204) when a member of staff isn’t there.
Contact me if you need to,
Rose rthomas.s1(at)ucreative.ac.uk
